Two little birds

These two little babies have quickly turned into two little people - it happens so slowly that you don't notice the changes.  Then, one day you have an (almost) 2 year old saying sentences ("I see doggy!") and 5 month old laughing so hard that her shoulders shake.

Emily Jane is one of the happiest little babies that has ever walked this earth (in my humble, non-biased opinion). She will give a smile to anyone who looks at her, but it is her sister (and her sister alone) that can make her absolutely laugh.

If Alice is around, it is hard to get Emily's attention. This is what you will see - she will be locked on Alice with a huge smile.  Alice intermittently cares about her adoring fan, much to Emily's ultimate joy and corresponding dismay.

Alice's sense of humor is really developing lately. She is learning how to make us laugh and you can see her eyes sparkle when she finds something that gets a laugh. For the picture taken above, she was just running around playing in this ridiculous hat. I asked her if I could take her picture and she ran off to go and get her bunny and then returned and posed with the little creature. It was important to her that bunny would be in the picture.

In the words of my sister Mandy, "Alice is an equal opportunity hat appreciator".  See example above, each of us is in the hat that Alice went and picked out for us.
